Max Underwood

Max Underwood was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the beautiful southwestern landscapes, wildlife, and rich cultural history have inspired him to pursue photography as a passion and a career. Close mentorship by photographers Janet Russek and David Scheinbaum, and having the opportunity to help develop prints from original Ansel Adams negatives with photographer Alan Ross, has greatly shaped Underwood’s knowledge and experience, both behind the lens and in the darkroom. In 2011, Underwood graduated from the University of New Mexico’s Fine Arts program, with a focus on photography.  This selection of images is from a series called "Lonesome, New Mexico", an exploration and tribute to the forgotten and bygone relics of New Mexico's past, evoking the wonder and mystery of the old west and its cultural heritage.  Underwood’s photography has been featured at The Louvre Museum (SeeMe Exposure 5th Annual Awards Exhibition Digital Display), National Geographic’s Daily Dozen, The Sun Magazine and the State of New Mexico's Art in Public Places program.
